Tanggang, is an ordinary boy who grows up in a village with his mother. He was loyal to his mother until one fine moment, when he sailed to another country and became rich. He married to a beautiful princess and started to forget his roots where he belonged. His poor mother waited patiently for his return however, soon came to her realisation that her son had changed into someone dreadful. All the while, her mother was left unattended and treated like trash. Tanggang’s return spread like wildfire among the villagers. Her old mother was anxious to meet her beloved son after such a long plight. She could not contain her anxiety and hurriedly prepared her son’s favourite dish; pisang salai.

Due to the shame he felt for his mother after looking at her conditions, Tanggang disregarded her mother. He was ashamed of being ridiculed by his fellow sailors and also his loved wife. His mother was left dangling helplessly and pushed away from his ship. His mother was terribly heartbroken and prayed for the retribution.
